Help
Help with Grid Alert.
In a power cut, call 105
- 105 is free in England, Scotland and Wales. It reaches your local network operator, who can tell you what’s happening and when power should be back.
- For anything about the app, email admin@oceanicintelligence.co.uk. A person reads every message.
Alerts don’t arrive
Start in the app: Settings → Alerts → Send a test alert. If it arrives, alerts are working.
If it doesn’t:
- Notifications: in the app, Settings → Alerts → Open notification settings, and check they’re allowed.
- iPhone: check Focus and Scheduled Summary. Urgent warnings are sent as Time Sensitive, so allow Time Sensitive notifications for Grid Alert. iPhone alerts come only from our server, so they need a data or Wi-Fi signal.
- Android: battery saving can delay the app’s own checks. In your phone’s settings, set Grid Alert’s battery use to Unrestricted so they run on time.
Most power cuts are local faults that happen without notice, so no app can warn about them. Grid Alert can’t guarantee a warning before every power cut.
Your rota letter
Every home in Great Britain is in a rota block, with its own letter. If rotating power cuts are ever needed, they go block by block. Find yours by postcode at powercut105.com, or on some electricity bills, then add it in the app. Our guide: how to find your rota letter.
Grid Alert Plus
Plus is a yearly or monthly subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play. Every warning that needs you to act is in the free app.
- New phone, or Plus missing: Settings → Grid Alert Plus → Restore purchase, signed in to the same Apple or Google account you bought it with.
- Cancel: on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android, Google Play → your profile → Payments and subscriptions. Plus carries on until the end of the year or month you’ve paid for.
- Refunds: handled by Apple or Google. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com, or in Google Play’s order history.
Your data
There’s no account, and the app never asks for your location. Settings → Your privacy shows what’s kept and what’s sent. Settings → Delete everything clears the app and unsubscribes your phone from every alert. The details are in our privacy notice.

Grid Alert is made by Oceanic Intelligence Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17549486. It isn’t from NESO, National Grid or your network operator, so we can’t report a power cut for you or say when your power will be back: call 105 for that.
